Two escape in helicopter accident

TWO men escaped injury when their helicopter flipped on its side after a rough emergency landing in Melbourne, the Rural Ambulance Service said today.
The pair had just taken off from an airfield at Sunbury, in the city's north-west, at 4pm (AEDT) when the helicopter experienced engine trouble.
The pilot was able to make a rough landing but the helicopter flipped onto its side, a Rural Ambulance Service spokesman said.
Both men were shaken but otherwise unhurt and did not require medical attention, he said.

A helicopter pilot has had a lucky escape after his aircraft crashed as he tried to land north of Melbourne today.
A Country Fire Authority spokesman said the pilot was taking off from the Penfield Airfield in Riddells Creek by himself when he noticed the engine was "running rough" about 4pm.
"He tried to put it down and the engine failed. He landed badly, with the helicopter on its side. He escaped serious injury," the spokesman said.
"I would say it was a lucky escape," he said.
Shortly after 4.30pm the CFA was keeping watch on the aircraft to ensure it did not catch fire.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Ambulance Service said two people were treated at the scene of the accident.
"They were shaken and stunned but otherwise unhurt," he said.
