Does anyone know of any airline that offers any type of sponsorship for people over the age of 30?? Appreciate the major airlines are unlikely to but any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Bexter

To be honest, there aren't that many offering sponsorship for those under 30...Unfortunatley, if things do get better I don't think airlines like to take on cadets under 28.

A few airlines have a policy of not taking on low hours non-type rated pilots below 30 even if they have a frozen ATPL. Sounds bad, I know but it's to do with the risks associated with training old guys apparantley.

That said, many have made it well up to the age of 45 I've heard.

I think OBK's post may confuse you.

I am sure he meant to say that

"Unfortunatley, if things do get better I don't think airlines like to take on cadets OVER 28."

and

"A few airlines have a policy of not taking on low hours non-type rated pilots OVER 30 even if they have a frozen ATPL."

Basically if you have reached 30 then the only realistic way is to fund it yourself unfortunately. I know because I am one of them but I am not regretting any of it.

Best of luck
