For some reason this post has ended up starting a new string. Not my intention!
Official Robinson line is that they have looked, but can't find a diesel with the right power/weight requirements. Most of the current diesels being used don't produce enough power.
I thought maybe the loss of 100LL would "accelerate" the thinking and technology - but having read the CAA's thoughts on this it would appear that most modern piston petrol engines can safely use a lower grade of fuel. Unless they are turbocharged, apparently.
There was a string on this subject around Sept 2003.
