Summary:

The president of the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (INTUR), Luc
Luc'a Salazar, concluded a visit to Madrid, Spain on a multi-nation European itinerary.

Together with colleagues from the other Central American countries, they urged Iberia, Spanair, Air Madrid and Iberojet, amongst others, to establish a direct flight between Madrid and any of the the Central American countries, with connections via TACA so that tourists can visit the other countries of the Ismus.

Currently, european tourists don't feel comfortable with the new security measures they need to face in Miami, where they make their connections to travel to Central America.

The airlines showed interest in the propsal, and each country will send a summary of the benefits their international airports provide.

Salazar says that the Managua International Airport offers various advantages, including current renovations, a usable runway 365 days of the year with ideal weather conditions. In addition, Nicaragua is at the geographical center of Central America and would reduce the transfer time for visitors to other parts of the region.
