Does anyone know when these planes last flew for Airtours and where they went. Also when were they built and where did they come from. I still wish they where in the UK in My Travel colours.

Paramount based in the southwest operated 2 Md-83's and so did British Island Airways in the late 80's I think.

Airtours traded theirs in during the winter of 1994/5, when all pilots scattered to the four corners of the globe for conversion onto the bus and 75.

A great aircraft to fly, built like a brick sh*t house, but basic and very quiet in the cockpit! But a ****** to balance for ski flights - often carrying 2 tonnes of fuel as ballast and STILL leaving ski's behind!

Eeeee, them wert days!

Paramount Airways operated four MD 83s: G-PATA, G-PATB, G-PATC and G-PATD. I believe they were leased from Guinness Peak Aviation. Paramount's ICAO Code was PAT, hence the registrations.

The airline's operational base was Bristol Airport (BRS) and it was the first UK airline to ban smoking on board. In fairness it practised what it preached because it would not sell cigarettes or tobacco products on the duty free rounds on board.

Paramount operated for a few years in the late 1980s and went out of business amidst allegations of financial mismanagement.

When were the Airtours MD83s built?
And which of them had white noses, because i remember G-HRCP having a white nose in her final year or 2 with Airtours.
