Student to Unemployed in one IR !!

Hi,

I am now in possession of a shiny new frozen ATPL, however have therefore joined the ever growing "unemployed pile".

The situation looks bad, those who get jobs are poorly paid, type ratings are often needed just to get a foot on the ladder and ive got to start paying off my massive debt very shortly.

So - is it worth finding another career for a couple of years (until the industry picks up), or strugglin' on/trying like hell.

Please help - im tearing myself to bits trying to decide, and time is running out.

Its a long road most of us have to travel before we secure that elusive first airline position(18 months so far)
Hope to see you(and many others) at the end of it.

edit: Do what you can to stay in the flying enviroment, in another job you really limit the opportunities that may or may not come your way.
