May seem a daft question, I have dowloaded a couple of files, they have appeared on my desktop, when I click on them the "open with" box appears, but I do not know what to open them with.
The icon is a small white square with the top right hand corner folder forwards, and the windows symbol on it, sort of a curled flag that appears on the windows disks.
If I try to open them with something from that "open with" box the icon just changes, and I still cant open the ******s.
What format are these files in please, how do I open them and what with?.

Mr Puzzled

Right-click on the icon and look at the extension of the file (the end of the name, after the dot).

Then please post it here, it will make the guessing easier

Hi Tony. Try downloading Irfanviewer, its free and only takes a min' to download and set up, its a piece of p**s. When you set it up, set it up so it is the default file viewer on your pc. Next time you click on a dodgy, I mean download then it should play it automatically for you. You can get it from HERE................ (http://www.irfanview.com) Good luck.

tony draper,

Before we worry about opening these files, lets find out which file extension they are. (The 3 or 4 letter code after the period. AS in .doc or .txt, etc.) Also, lets make sure they do not have the ability to carry viruses.

Take Care,

Richard

Hi Tony, it might do, when you download it make sure you download the plug-ins too. Then just set the preferences(Options/properties) for it to open everything on your pc. Is it possible to send me one of the ones that wont open? One with the computer monitor on it.

Mr D

May I insist that you post the extension of the files, as Naples Air Center, Inc. and myself already asked.

Otherwise, guessing is a bit hopeless.

Tony,

Im guessing, but by looking at THIS (http://verveguitartabs.com/main.html) website, that GP4 files are for a programme called 'Guitar-Pro'

I guess you need this to open and view your files.

Dont ya just love google :E

Hi Tony,

Quick search of the www for GP4 revealed ...

Guitar Pro (http://www.guitar-pro.com/).

There is a link to a demo download at the bottom of the page, but I've no idea if it'll deliver the goods.
