Richard, E-Liam and any other knowledgable persons lurking!

Below is my Hijack this log for my PC. Any chance of having a quick look to see if their is anything that I shold be getting rid of.

On a slightly different subject, when on line I keep getting bombarded by inbounds 'generic host for win32 services' from lots of different web servers. I deny entry to all of these. They say they are inbound as part of a svchost.exe arrangment.

Any ideas.

Very much appreciated the help on this forum.

Thanks

DeepC

Hi DeepC,

Please run a new HJT! Scan, and check to fix the following entries, being sure to double check that you haven't missed any. Next, close all browser windows and click the Fix checked button…

O2 - BHO: MyWay Search Assistant BHO - {04079851-5845-4dea-848C-3ECD647AA554} - C:\Program Files\MyWay\SrchAstt\1.bin\MYSRCHAS.DLL (file missing)

and then delete the following (bolded) folder...

C:\Program Files\MyWay

Next, please download AdAware 6 181 from here (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/).

Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "web update". Then ........

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------"ON=GREEN" From main window :Click "Start" then " Activate in-depth scan". Then......

Click "Use custom scanning options>Customize" and have these options on: "Scan within archives" ,"Scan active processes","Scan registry", "Deep scan registry" ,"Scan my IE Favourites for banned URL" and "Scan my host-files". Then.........

Go to settings(the gear on top of AdAware)>Tweak>Scanning engine and tick "Unload recognised processes during scanning". Then........"Cleaning engine" and uncheck "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and check "Let windows remove files in use at next reboot" Then......

Click "proceed" to save your settings.

Now to scan it’s just to click the "Scan" button.

When scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it.

Next, reboot again and download Spybot - Search & Destroy, from here (www.tomcoyote.org/spybot): if you haven't already got the program.

Now press Settings, and Settings again. Go to the Webupdate section, and check "Display also available beta versions".

Now press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.

Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds marked RED.

Then reboot. I'd recommend that you go here (http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp), click Scan for updates in the main frame, and download and install all CRITICAL updates recommended. Include an update to IE6 SP1.

Other than that your log's clean.

Cheers

Liam

E-Liam,

You are a star!
Thanks very much for the advice. If you need any advice on any of my specialities in the future I owe you one. Though needing 3D highway design, 3D VR Modelling, AutoCAD or 3d Viz services is not something the average man-on-the-street is desperate for!

Thanks

DeepC

Thanks for posting that, I have been using AdAware for a while, quite content that, using the default settings, it had found 46 objects on its first search, and that subsequently it generally found one or two new objects every time I ran it.
This morning I used your settings, as above, ran a scan, and it found a further 99 ! objects.
Thanks once again.:)
