O2 + Head Colds

Hi

I'm having a problem using 02 at altitudes of about 12-16K. Everytime I use it I'm getting a head cold almost immediately after I stop using it. This has happened several times over the last year. I don't have a cold before I use just after...

Anyone throw any light on this? Do I need to take more vitamins?

Hi AFTA,

It may be that due to use of O2 (which is very dry) your nasal mucosa (lining of the nasal tissues) gets so dry that they are therefore more susceptible to any old cold virus taking hold.

O2 use in itself should not lead to getting a cold.

Take it the canula, mask etc is all clean?

New mask last time, if I have kind of a dormant cold virus just waiting for my membranes to dry out with O2, what can I do about that?

Not a dormant virus, just so many of the b*gg*rs around that are waiting for a chance!
