Going opposite to the swashplate thread.... What's the funniest sitcom you have seen.....
Mine has to be 'The Young Ones ', any of the old 'Comic Strip Presents.....' more recently, 'The Peter Principle...'

Its not the fall that kills you...Its the sudden stop.....

How come no-one's yet mentioned the classic ... Red Dwarf

I know it got a bit thin towards the end, but how many series of comic genius were given to us!! My favourite always!

Probably 2 of the funniest that I've seen recently are Everyone Loves Raymond and Just Shoot Me

As for one from the past, well, being an Oz chick, I can't really leave without a mention to Kingswood Country with Ted Bullpit :)

I always loved Absolutely Fabulous - Patsy Stone's influence is there for all to see!

Have to agree with The Young Ones nomination.

Still have the image of Vivian leaning out the window with a schooner glass, turning back inside with the glass full of urine and saying:

"It's pissing down."

So silly, yet so good.

Flying is easy - just throw yourself at the ground and miss.

Yeh Ill go with The Young Ones too. I also forgot to mention another fav of mine was Steptoe and Son.
"You dutty dutty old decrepit man! How could you dudd?"
"Aww Arruld! Before you were born me and your dear mother God rest her soul were very poor and needed the money."
"By starring in a bloodey pornographic movie??"
"Well back then it was considered an art."
"And mum knew??!!!!"
"Course she did. Shes the one that got me the audition!"

More satire than sitcom but full of superb writing and excellent acting. Not one bad show in six seasons and many classics.

Schmite, we must have the same sense of humour, I love the two sitcoms you mentioned. Do you know if they have brought out the series on video. Two more top sitcoms are Sorry, staring Ronnie Corbet, and Robins Nest. I have these on video if you want to borrow them just email me at "[email protected]" http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif
