Jet Thrust.com (http://www.jetthrust.com) has photos of a buried Iraqi jet fighter being recovered by U.S. Air Force troops. The Iraqi jet, an advanced Russian MiG-25 Foxbat, was found buried in the sand after an informant tipped off Special Forces Units. Jet was recovered in the summer.

See the pictures here (http://www.jetthrust.com/aviation-forums/viewforum.php?f=1)

I remember seeing these pictures months ago. There was a thread running on PPRuNe about it at least 6 months ago.

Managed to find a report on Newsmax dated August 6th 2003 (http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2003/8/6/105528.shtml)

Not exactly news...

If they can do this with Mig fighters what's to say they didn't do this all over Iraq with drums of biological and chemical agents.

heard rumours about a Hawk being found a shaiba on tellic 1 and it disappearing anyone have any idea if this is correct.
Am aware of the Fishbed at the front gate and the dissappearing Hawker Fury 2 seater.

I've heard the MiG-25 described as many things, but 'advanced'!!!!!?

Just looks like a standard Foxbat B recce variant to me.
