What an absolutely filthy day out yesterday up and down the east coast. Probably the biggest light show I've had the "pleasure" of flying in/around, whilst going up to Brisbane and back. Ended up holding over Cooly (sorry, "Gold Coast") for nearly an hour before making an approach to a very wet BNE 01. Lots of ongoing lightning strikes just outside the airport. A couple of absolute monster cells on the coast around Coffs. Back to SYD another monster build-up around Inverell/Armidale, we'd already diverted inland out of BNE and thus ended up a third of the way to ADL before being able to track direct SYD (turned somewhere Walgett)....
And does anyone know how DJ245 got on in the end? He was courageously holding on the 19 localiser, looking at shooting the 19 ILS while the wind had gone southerly, then ultimately was looking for a circuit around onto 01. Gutsy effort, guys. Did you get in or end up in Cooly (where it was CAVOK)?
Anyone else got a good story?
This week they are very definitely fuel-tanks, not air-tanks.... :ok:
