Urgent - Accommodation contracts

I am currently in my first year of university, and shortlisted for a GD(P) bursary. I also told the board that I would accept DE if offered it. It is now the time of year where we need to sort out accommodation for next year. I am looking to sign a contract with my prospective landlady very soon, but am worried about what implications this will have if offered DE. I have heard that there is a law where all contracts of this form are annulled if called up to military service - I was wondering how true this is. I'm just planning ahead for any eventuality.
