During my CPL training we used the commercial pilots series of books published by the aviation theory centre(NZ) i believe they are really just a copy of the trevor thom (?) manuals that are often used in Oz. While perhaps there are better books on the various subjects it does appear that ASL who set the exams are drawing heavily from these texts. As for ATPL subjects its a bit harder to say what text is best as i've usually attended courses with their own notes. Good luck with the exams. ;)

Aviation Theory Centre's web site is : http://www.enternet.co.nz/users/aviation/

I got the CPL series and it's very good (though I had a chuckle at the "attractive shelf box").

I was undecided until I saw the attractive box set option, that was the clincher for me. :)
