I am thinking of getting an A3 scanner to copy some manuals etc. that are just over A4 size. Most seem to be at the professional high end of the market with prices to match. I noticed Mustek do a cheap (very!) version. Anyone tried it yet?

Any feedback gratefully received.

Ex Oggie,

I do not know the brand, so I am no help. I did a search of the net and did not find any reviews either. (At least any in English.)

I was wondering what was the dpi of the scanner you were thinking of?

Richard

Hi Richard

I tried a Google for reviews also, no joy. The scanner is on the Mustek Europe home page at www.mustek.de

I only scan at 150 dpi usually when copying manuals, I find this is the best compromise for on-screen size and printability. The scanner falls well within this, and its less that £100.00!!

I am just wondering if this is too good to be true?

Try this Kelkoo page:

http://search.kelkoo.co.uk/b/a/ss_a3_scanner.html

Details of Epson Perfection 3170 at £190, if you want a "quality" manufacturer, as well as the rest.

Ex Oggie,

300x600 dpi is very low for a modern day scanner. (That would explain the price.)

Take Care,

Richard

All the Mustek kit I have come across so far has not been XP compatible (you don't mention your OS), and looks cheap and flimsy.

Haven't actually used any (cause most equipment I come across has XP loaded)...

That's all I know...
