It seems you can fly quite cheaply in new IFR aircraft if you are prepared to fly through the night here. I wonder if there is any thing else like this around

I can see why it's so cheap when you consider the new diesel engines use so little fuel.

Depends on which duchess and at what rate.
I know of a duchess @ $209.00 including gst on airswitch.
They dont come much cheaper & you can fly it anytime you want just book in!

Aeromentor, checked out the comparisons to C152. Great stuff.
The only thing is, I couldn't find the rest of the comparisons. ie depreciation, major maintenance etc.
These are the areas where the numbers can get seriously skewed (screwed). After all C152's are expensive to maintain properly, and to budget for periodic refurb. On the other hand they have minimal capital cost, and are very reliable and proven - much like the model T Ford.
