I know Neville Dawson was also floating around taking photos.

Anyone else got some pics from this years Aussie fire season?

Cheers,

Ned was flown on Friday afternoon when it was really cooking so hopefully he will post some good shots. Fairfax photographer got a lot of good stuff and Greg Grainger is doing a doco for the townies and it has some good images as well.

VH-AV.....

Question comes to mind looking at the pic's.....you guys start the fires with the 206 then put them out with the BK, Crane, and Huey? Sounds like a good deal you are on if so!;)

is it an illusion or does the BK have blades with tapered tips ?.

Great photos.

Neville Dawson was there on Fri & Sat so hopefully we will see some more pics.

Widgeon: it is an optical illusion created by the blade tie down sleeves over the end of the blades.

SASless: spot on. There is always a quiet cheer from the lads when someone says the sweetest phrase: "I think we ought to put in a backburn now" over the radio:ok: :ok: :ok:

Go back three years and there was a 206 lighting the fires, and many 206's to put them out. At least we have some heavier metal now - though it is not always used as effectively.

Helmet Fire - Yes got some great shots and they are in getting developed at the moment.

Also spent Sun morning in the left seat with AP in 226. Got some great shots from that perspective as well.

Not sure if you heard but that little river that we were dipping out of has been renamed G-String Bay ;) ;)

See you back over there when the next one starts.

Lovely quality pics - worth having broadband for. Do the 205s have any probs with flexing/cracking around the cockpit door frames with the doors removed?

In your 2nd picture ; what is the apparatus hanging out the right passenger door? Is it a device for dropping potassium glycol ping pong balls for back burning ?

A jetranger was being used for incendiary dropping. Want to be a bit more specific about the image and where on the airframe. will try to answer your query.
