Hi,

Here's a list of changes for summer 2004:

In addition to this there is talk of American operating a flight to Boston, not sure if this is 757/767 yet. There is also talk of American opening up a route to Miami later in the year, I've heard it mentioned to be 5 times weekly in the summer and daily in the winter??
US Airways are rumoured to be looking at an additional daily flight to Philly, the loads on their existing one are fantastic.
Qatar Airways are going daily to Doha with the A300.

SAA, I had heard that they would be looking at Manchester when they get the ex Lufthansa A340's.
Thai is also rumoured to be considering Manchester, apparently they are awaiting delivery of an ex United 747 and then plan to launch flights to Bangkok, it looks like this flight could be via Munich though.
Gulf Air is seriously looking at Manchester, not sure if this will be mainline or Gulf Traveller. Its either going to Bahrain or Abu Dhabi.
Syrian will serve Manchester as an extension of their LHR service.
I had heard that Cathay were looking at returning, but i'm not sure about this one. They seem to have a good set up with codeshare on the BA shuttles to LHR and then connect on. Besides they operate 3 times daily to HKG from LHR now.
BMI's 3rd airbus is operating for the mod, however when it returns there is talk of it operating to either Miami or Toronto (possibly replacing the Air Canada service.

Alitalia have been returning to MAN for the last 4 years!

Can't see MYL expanding at the moment and rumor is it will be absorbed back into MyTravel Airways in 2004 anyway.

Wasn't MAN supposed to become PIA's European hub?

Last rumors I heard were United are looking at routes to MAN and EK are to start bringing the A340-500 in on some flights.

The Return Of Alitalia seems to be pretty well definite, but don't hold your breath waiting for the EK A340s!!!

My information is that they will be mostly used on services between Dubai and Australasia/South-East Asia.

I, too, have heard the EZY rumour. The version I heard involved the Swiss arm of the company. I'll believe it when I see it, personally.

The only thing that we can be sure of is that reality will differ from the list of proposed changes - the only question is to what degree.

If all these rumours are true....

What will those terminals look like at peak times....

This summer it was like Argos on Christmas Eve.... only dirtier.... and with more leisurewear..... VILE !!!

Something really needs to be done...... you cannot even find anywhere to sit.... except on a very dirty toilet.... again... VILE !!

VILE .... VILE.... VILE......

Do you think HLX's new 2 x daily Bilbao service and new 4 x weekly service to Stuttgart will be successful?

Alitalia is already bookable and I believe the American flight is to be launched this week along with a change to the Chicago going via Glasgow but with a B777 rather than a B767 slug
Iberia are going to operate in conjunction with Air Nostrum a daily
Madrid service and I believe that some of the PIA flights
stateside are being pulled from BHX and upgraded to B777
because B777 are not able to operate with a full load from BHX

I'm sorry but what do you hold against MAN? In your statement above you seem like your trying to make the airport sound as bad a possiable when really it is a superb airport. Yes, maybe it can get a bit crowded but there is always somewhere to sit, NO it's not dirty what so ever (airports have no bins yet at MAN you see very little litter) and SO what if there aren't masses of business men walking around, MAN as with LGW are typically holiday airports with a lot of charter activities. Myabe we should all go out and buy a suit for our next visit to MAN so we don't look to common?

Thanks

As much as I like MAN, Terminal One is becoming a joke with the security queue's. The problem needs sorting, I previously thought it was merely due to the summer rush, but when you're seeing queue's stretching back into the check in hall on a typical November morning something isn't right. Adding more flights is merely going to make the problem worse if the airport doesn't get its act together.

Guess it must be the Shannon based EU Jet? They have either one or two Fokker 100s. BFS-MAN sounds like a good idea. :)

From memory EU Airlines are a paper airline planning to operate B717's.

Are you sure???

Christ on a bike!!!:D

MAN had better start building that extension to T2 quick then.

Last I heard about PIA was that it was to be the European hub with over 70 weekly movements. Also that they wanted their own dedicated terminal.

According to the Hapag Lloyd Express website for Summer 2004, there is 1 x daily Cologne and a 4 x weekly Stuttgart from Manchester. No mention of a second Cologne rotation or any Bilbao operation.

PK to increase to 70 flights a week??? Apart from the expected 5 or 6 extra flights from BHX and maybe 4 extra stateside flights each week to complement the present 14 departures, where would all these additional movements come from?

If EU Airways or EU Jet or whatever start BFS - MAN, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Baby service - difficult to justify two carriers on this route from BFS and BACX from BHD!

The V-Bird website now shows a Niederrhein/Manchester service - due to start 29th January. Flights appear to be daily except Saturday.

According to local media, Flybe have announced no services from Channel Islands this summer due to unavailability of suitable slots.
