What is the expected closing date for Essendon Airport?

With the imminent introduction of new charges it appears half a dozen circuits will cost somewhere around $150 plus in addition to hire of aircraft, instructor, etc.

Will spell a rapid end to flying training there and other operators will be closely monitoring the viability of operating from Essendon.

The demise must be planned for when?

(Someone may care to calculate an accurate costing of the new charges)

Now, Fox owns MEB doesn't he? In which case, I expect he'd try to close it soon & mop up all the real estate revenue!

With the new charges at Essendon, Bacchas Marsh must look good to some of the operators.

One lame has just put up a large hanger and two new private hangers are now complete with one more comming.

Council has had a change of attitude and now want the aerodrome developed.

All aviation activity welcome.

Check with Bacchas Marsh council for leases etc.

Australia...the land of disappearing airports. And the Government (I use the term loosely) seems willing to help it happen.

With regard to landing fees, my rental costs did go up last month due to an increase in landing fees. Understand that parking charges had been reduced as well. But, the balance would still favour the owners. Remember a thread regarding the pending closur of YBSS as well so 'tis good that that has had a reversal of fortunes.

As for circuits at EN, ERSA tells me they are only available for endorsements and test flights. This has been ammended from last issue too. seem to rem. that circuits were originally not allowed. Only done three in last 12 months. Could be interesting if YMPC is closed (I hope that never happens).

EN may look old and dead. But, once you have been there a bit you discover that there is a pretty large community of businesses already operating there. Becton reckons on 150 businesses operate out of there now before they start to develop the 90 hectares of open space (without encroaching on air operations).
