They're only about 60 miles from home, by my reckoning. Any Leics or Lincs plod in the house? You won't find an easier 'detected' :E

What happened to the two Jet Provosts that were specially built for Prince Charles? They were stored at Cranwell. They probably do not have more than a couple of hundred hours total unless they were re-converted for line service. Perhaps they will appear on e-bay!

What was special about the JPs for HRH anyone?

The JPs concerned were well ahead of their time. Specifically, HRH's jets (the Mk VIs I believe) had a small hydraulic hatch in the top of the nose cone that opened as the nose wheel came under pressure (usually on landing!) and pushed up a small flag with the Royal Crest on it.

Also, the main tyres were solid (rather than gas filled) so that they would be invulnerable to unexpected attacks by Bull Terriors!

:D :D :D

I'll get me coat!:O

Sorry, I meant 'terrier' ... I'll get me hat and gloves!:O

I thought that the JP's in question had a tarmac grabbing arrestor hook for use when a pilot made a landing halfway down the runway with a very strong tailwind.

Apparently, it was very good, and it was thought that it had been implemented on the BAe146 fleet.:ouch:

Seems the JP HRH used (XW323) is now at the RAF museum, Hendon. Click here (http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=467995&WxsIERv=QkFDIEpldCBQcm92b3N0IFQ1QQ%3D%3D&WdsYXMg=UHJpdmF0ZQ%3D%3D&QtODMg=SGVuZG9uIChjbG9zZWQp&ERDLTkt=VUsgLSBFbmdsYW5k&ktODMp=Tm92ZW1iZXIgMjksIDIwMDM%3D&BP=1&WNEb25u=TmljayBTYWxtb24%3D&xsIERvdWdsY=WFczMjM%3D&MgTUQtODMgKE=Rmlyc3QgcGljdHVyZSBvZiB0aGlzIGFpcmNyYWZ0IG9uIGE ubmV0ISBUaGUgJ0pQJyBoYXMgYmVlbiB0aHJvdWdoIHNldmVyYWwgdmFyaWF udHMgc2luY2UgaXQncyBpbnRyb2R1Y3Rpb24gaW4gMTk1NC4gVGhlIFQ1IGl zIHByZXNzdXJpc2VkIHRvIGZhY2lsaXRhdGUgaGlnaCBhbHRpdHVkZSB0cmF pbmluZyAtIDExMCBhaXJjcmFmdCBvZiB0aGlzIHZlcnNpb24gd2VyZSBwcm9 kdWNlZCwgOTMgb2Ygd2hpY2ggd2VyZSB1cGdyYWRlZCB0byBUNUEuIEhSSCB QcmluY2UgQ2hhcmxlcyB1c2VkIHRoaXMgc3VwZXJiIGV4YW1wbGUgaW4gdGh lIDE5NzCScyBkdXJpbmcgaGlzIHBpbG90IHRyYWluaW5nIGF0IFJBRiBDb2x sZWdlIENyYW53ZWxsLg%3D%3D&YXMgTUQtODMgKERD=NzQ%3D&NEb25uZWxs=MjAwMy0xMi0wNg%3D%3D&static=yes)

I have found another link here (http://www.motorcities.com/contents/99KAB442725799.html) which also shows a JP used by HRH.
