Hi everyone i don't post often but i'm currently 15 years of age my nearest airport is Blackpool Airport ( Squires Gate ), i am booked on an hour of trial flying. My question is to be come an airline pilot do i require 20/20 vision what i mean is i cannot read things that are at a distance but i can see perfectly if you get what i mean. Such as a sign and its letters would be blurry to me but i can see the sign perfectly. Will this be a serious problem or is it allowed to be corrected with glasses if needed and i do not currently wear any now as i don't need them except for reading things in the distance.
Appreciate any replies.

http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/49/SRG_MED_JAR_C2_Initial_Visual_Stds.pdf

That .pdf is all about the visual requirements for a Class 2 medical. My advice would be to go and have an eye test at your local opticians and take a copy of that with you. The optician will tell you if your ok for the set requirements and if you aren't you will have just saved yourself £125.

My eyesight is not perfect and i managed to get my class 2, i don't think it should be any different for you.

To go onto become a commercial pilot you will need a Class 1 medical which is a bit tougher than the Class 2 but basically covers the same criteria. Eyesight requirements for a Class 1 can be found here http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/49/SRG_MED_JAR_C1_Initial_Visual_Stds.pdf.

Good luck.

PS. Questions regarding medical issues go into the "Medical & Health" forum not the "Questions" forums.
