Newair - this was an outfit which operated a Jetstream 31 probably about 10 years ago on the Carlisle - Stansted run. Owners from Newcastle.

Did'nt last long.

You are barking up the wrong tree.

Newair was a successful Danish airline operating mainly Fokker F50's. Successful until they wet leased some of their aircraft to Euroceltic and never got paid.

I guess Euroceltic was another classic case of people wanting to play airlines without having the necessary experience or money.

Last news was they were in some sort of administration, partly due to the fact that Euroceltic owed them some money, but Newair had been losing money for years and had been up for sale for about a year before they went bust.

At one time Handley and his crooks were looking at merging with them, but as per usual it was all bull, in any event Newair got to keep the ECY F27 that was at Billund and have sold it as parts.

Handley and Rohan did some sort of back door deal to screw the company and the workers, although with the revenues they were getting they really could,nt afford to pay the staff the high salaries.

Last news is the bones of Newair may be doing a deal with LUT to operate out of Maastrict as a feeder, but in reality it will be at least a year, if at all, as there is no trust for the old management and any investors would want to see a clean sweep before putting one euro in.

If they do get going again, lets hope that lard arse from Waterford has nothing to do with it, he should stick to putting his head up horses, thats if he can still be a vet.

Shame for the crews, like ECY, they got screwed, although, unlike ECY they did get paid for three months.

I believe the Carlisle to Stansted J31 service about 10 years ago was operated briefly by Lakeside Aviation (a Liverpool based outfit)badged as Lakeside North West. Two round trips per day, via Liverpool.

WAT - I am curious as to your interest with Newair. Are you a scout for Hanley? Considering the damage this man did to aviation, the unpaid bills, the treatment of staff and his connections with Waterford you have aroused my more cynical side. Are you using this forum as a fishing ground for the vet? Hmmm......as I turn the moustache!!!

The airline we are talking about here is Newair.dk (from Denmark), not some obscure air taxi service that never made it.

This thread was started by EI-WAT (Irish aircraft registration), so his interest is clearly in Newair, the airline who got shafted by Euroceltic, not the air taxi service you are referring to.

PS: Before you have a go at my using the term air taxi, in my book anything smaller than 50 seats is an air taxi !

My apologies, hope you can understand my annoyance with anything to do with Euroceltic and the owner. Happy New Year...
