A few from me.

Milestones of Flight or should it be spot the Milestone.

Well judging by the other pictures the lighting gets better late in the aftrnoon, its a bit of a mish mash and there is a lot less space than I was expecting. the displays are good, however there is a lot of wasted space (cafe, control tower etc) also an obvious space opposite the P-51, I wonder what they will fill it with.

Bomber Command Hall

IMHO they either need to rename this hall or swap some exibits over. Maybe Bomber Command Memorial Wing?

Battle of Britain Hall

Now don’t get me wrong, I really like the film presentation they do, it does bring renewed life to the place, however I wish they could bring the screens up in between and make it a bit brighter.

If you thought the Bomber Command Hall was dark! Thank god for Image Stabilised Lenses.

Hi MOTF,

milestones is a bit dissapointing really, although the plastic spitfire on the wall is surprisingly good.

Sugar is having her bomb doors repainted a bit at a time-hence the bare metal patch that you may have seen.

Gorgeous photos, MOTF, you've really started the year off well for us.

Incidentally, MOTF could translate to Zaunkoenig (King of the Fence), but the bird of the same name is a wren!!

Thanks for excellent pix. Particularly the Typhoon - oh to see (and hear ) one of those beasts in the sky again.

I am sure you have already done so but, if not, troll down to the USAAF building at Duxford - lots of big sweeping curves in the building to reflect the contents AND a chance to get three generations of Boeing Bomb-trucks (17, 29 and 52) in one shot and - given a steady hand - in focus.

tharg- when you mentioned seeing a 'Typhoon' I immediately
thought of the Eurofighter Typhoon ! It is entering service shortly!
If the original had been similarily as late it would have missed the legendary battles at Falaise and indeed the 1940's full stop !

Since you asked, a wren's family name in Latin is troglodytidae, and zaunkoenig is German.

An aircraft of the same name resides at the excellent museum in Oberschleissheim near Munich, it is the former G-ALUA and a war booty machine. Now THAT would be something to see at OW...!

Seeing the mix of aircraft makes me think that it's a slightly odd collection. Certainly the Eurofighter will be an interesting aircraft
when fully online with the RAF but is it more significant than the technology demonstrator EAP ?
Similarily the Ki100 wasn't really a 'war winner' for the Japanese - what chance she could go back to Japan and be replaced with a genuine Zero model 52?
The RAFM has a very good collection of aircraft to draw from - it would be great if they could acquire something different like the former Sidney Cotton Electra or even the former Free French Lodestar that's currently languishing over in the U.S
