Not an interesting post, but i'm looking for an answer to solve my curiousity.

On both saturday and sunday night last week I passed a large white JET2 truck on the M11 at Junction 7 (A414/Harlow). There was a JET2 737 parked on 25L all weekend and we of course have the Chan Ex's at STN, but I was confused as to why they need the truck.

Any ideas? Is it for onward transportation of freight or perhaps to move the seats around for their 737-QC? This is the only time that i've ever spotted the truck, but it didn't look new (P-reg I think).

It's nothing as interesting as that. What you have seen is merely an advertisment. The truck is operated by Fowler welsh (who specialise in refrigerated transport) which is part of Channex's parent company Dart Group. I believe that they have put the Jet2 livery on most of the fleet.

nibor is correct a number of the Fowler Welch trailers have been painted in Jet2 colours for advertising purposes, but only a small part of the fleet.

The QC trucks live alongside A1 at STN and are independent units no tractor required.

LS was down from Leeds to help European out over the weekend.

Thanks for that 4S and nibor. Not a bad response time either, nibor managed to answer the question in exactly one-hour .... enough time to change TF-ELP over!

4S I can't say that I noticed that, I'll have a closer look next time I see it. Am I right in saying that it was registered 'TF' (Icelandic I think) due to some problem with the 737-QC not being recognised by the UK authorities? I may be way out with this as it was a rumour I heard some time ago, but you'll be able to tell me.

Out of interest, what series 737 is it closest to (I'd guess a 700) and what is the seating configuration?

It is a 300 series aircraft and was owned by Lufthansa from new so it is a 330. The cargo door was done by Pemco in the states and had never been certified in the UK, so LP and LR were operated on the Icelandic register until the conversion was cleared by the C.A.A. earlier this year.

The machine is configured for 124 pax and LR which is based in Edinburgh is 142.

Just on the subject of the trucks with the Jet 2 advertising, the plan was to try and keep those trailers operating within the LBA catchment area.

Inevitably some of them have ended up doing the rounds in the London area where advertising for flights from LBA is going to have a pretty limited effect. :O
