Bell 212 helicopter from the Norewgian company Airlift crashed in the ice on 18th dec.
At around 8:30 in the morning the airport authorities reported that there was no contact with the helicopter. It has just completed to transport 3 maintenance people to a telesite.
At around 9:00 o´clock a Super Puma rescue helicopter was airborne from Svalbard airport in Longyearbyen and found the crashed helicopter partly trough the sea ice and rescued the 2 pilots who were already out of the helicopter. They were brought to Longyearbyen hospital for closer check.
