Do228 or Saab 340?

Here is the situation. If I were offered a job to join either Do-228 or Saab 340, which one should I go for ? The D-228 pays real well i.e. almost 3000 bucks a month. And the Saab 340 pays about 1500 bucks a month. If I were to think about long term career and possibility of moving to higher fleet, having which rating would help me ?

I presume that to further your career after flying the turboprop you would be changing employer, if not then go with the operator you can offer you career progression to jets.

If you intend to change employer, then do either of the 2 options open have any close links to jet operators which may help you to get your next position?

If there is no easy transition, then I would not have thought it makes too much difference which one you go for- they are both EFIS equipped modern turboprops I believe. In that case assuming they are reliable, why not go with the money?

TopBunk, the Do228 is not EFIS fitted.

The Do328 is.

Assuming that it is a Captain position on the Dornier, I would go there.

If not...I don't know.

I stand corrected. If both positions are for the same rank, then I guess it is a judgement call whether flying the more modern Saab 340 for less dosh but being able to put EFIS on your cv is worth $1500 differential for a year or so, by making you more eomplyable elsewhere. Seems like a big pay differential though for the same seat. If the Do228 is LHS and the S340 RHS, then assuming he has the necessary qualifications, then LHS P1 time is always worth having, more valuable imho than EFIS time, which is easily learnt.

OK guys - tough decision here gonna land on that mountain there or gonna do a go-around.... what should I do (If I do the go-around I'll probably survive and then I'll have to answer for my actions......)

Thank you all for the wonderful replies. Just to add some more points. I am offered LHS on both the type. BTW, the DO-228 is not EFIS equipped. I would appreciate some more inputs.

I have been flying DHC-6 for last few years and with the type of flying we are doing out here....there are no overshoots, overshooting means you are dead. So, just bring the damn thing down....LOL !;)

the saab's a nice prop but I wouldn't think there's too much between them. Take the money.:D
