Interesting new website from the ATO, www.abr.business.gov.au. Enter Lifeflight and they are a Public Benevolent Institution, no less. Which would explain why they are (again) off to the Antarctic to support the French ;) :confused:

A Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) is a non-profit institution organised for the direct relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness. The characteristics of a PBI are:

FYI, the Westpac sponsorship of one of the aircraft is in line with a service (benevolent) for Surf Lifesaving Victoria (SLSV) in response to providing SAR if/when required.

They even have rescue swimmers stationed at the base during the summer months.

This is going to get really boring, again! For about the third time or so?
Who cares if Lifeflight do whatever they do to prop up the rescue services they try to provide. If at the end of the day they or a similar service save your newborn or your son or daughter then its worthwhile. Lets face it what Lifeflight do on contract either on the fires or down on the ice is fairly insignificant in the scheme of things?
If anyone wants to challenge this comment then go right ahead and instantly label yourself as a bit of a cockhead. I know I won't be spending anymore time on this done to death subject - YAWN!

Some pruners who have been around long enough might remember that there were "Wespac" (surf rescue) sponsored machine(s) in Melbourne back in the late '70s and early 80s.

They were (effectively) put to death by a state govt entity who managed to force restricted/prohibited area status around the scene of any incident/accident to ensure their own "Air Wing" could justify its existance.

That same airwing also had an "interesting" relationship with a certain "Mr Friedrichs" ???? and his organisation.

They didn't seem to have a problem with that relationship till a bit later!

Give them the funds to be stand alone Rescue/EMS operations and let's have one on every headland/hospital roof-top!
Just stay the f##k out of the true tax-paying commercial operators arena.
One day some of you guys will get the message - duty hour concessions, salary sacrifice, donations, raffles, moonlighting, tax evasion and many more do not make for a healthy long-term helicopter industry.

The latest I hear from Queensland - a Labour state - is that the pilots at QR are pushing for an EBA with all the trimmings!
Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

We all know that every State in Australia has a Labour Government.
Labour are against EBA's - want you to be in a union not individually negoiating with your boss.
At least that was what they were chanting last Labour Day march.
