View Full Version : Searching Adelaide

I'm just wondering if anyone here knows of a helo using a searchlight over the south of Adelaide, Oz this evening (about midnight)? The only reason I ask is that it did 4-5 passes over my house and it was a little hard to ignore! Was it an actual search or just training?

Note that I'm not a helo pilot as yet. My total time is about 15 hours in an R22. I then decided to spend my money on a trip to Canada/Alaska (which was well worth it!) and circumstances have meants that I've had to put the CPL(H) on hold.

Are there many Adelaide-based pilots on this forum? What's the main type of flying that happens from here? News, EMS, SAR, charter? When (or if) I continue my CPL I'd love to end up here as I just like Adelaide. I doubt that would be possible long-term, but am at least wondering what the chances are of being able to build hours here. It would also be nice to have some local contacts.

Anyway, this is my first post after lurking for a while. Love the forum! The best resource I've found in a long time! :ok:

Most likely the Adelaide Bank sponsored, CHC Oz. run, Rescue 1 (Bell 412) or Rescue 2 (Bell 206L) helicopters on medical, police patrol or training as you said. Parked at West Beach airport off James Schofield Drive if you care to take a look.;)
