North-east german aircraft manufacturer OMF (http://www.omf-aircraft.com) formally declared insolvency to the local court yesterday. This is a Situation similar to chaper 11 in the U.S.
Problems with funding in the canadian OMF factory led to losses in the german main facility, aircraft components delivered to canada were not payed for.
OMF produced the 160hp twin seater ´Symphony´ wich is aviable from simple VFR to fully IFR equipped and certified, 42 planes were delivered so far. A diesel fuel version especially for the european marked was close to certification, flight tests were almost completed. A four seater was under development.
If no new investor is found, the ´Cessna 150 of the 21st century´ a certified derivative of the very popular GlasStar and a good chance to replace the 40 year old GA planes in our flying clubs is gone :{
