Very sadly, I have only recently heard that Captain Geoff Ede passed away in France some time ago.
Geoff was a particularly well-liked, and respected pilot who flew with Ansett for probably close to 20 years until 1989, then moving to Malaysian, and later Lauda, before retiring to live in France.
Geoff had a tremendous sense of humour, and along with his polished, radio announcer's voice, gave many of us a good laugh (esp. his Derek and Clive impersonations).
He is survived by his wife, Diedre, whom I understand arranged a memorial service last Friday (5th Dec), followed by a wake at the Brekky Creek Hotel and which was attended by scores of Geoff and Diedre's acquaintances.
A very sad loss indeed.
