CSA will increase Birmingham-Prague flights from the start of th summer schedule next year. Two flights will operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays with a daily flight on all other days.

Any more new airlines/routes from BHX next year?

Was suddenly looking last night for a round trip from London to St Petersburg, Russia over New Year. Travelocity £1,300 and up, with connections. BA £1,250, Aeroflot £950 (and come home to London from Paris on the Eurostar!).

CSA £340. So well done CSA, if you are going to go on like this you deserve to increase your market share.

Replying to Mike/meflybe, a number of other routes, or increases are in the pipeline for next year.

Definites are 2nd daily Emirates to Dubai which is an evening departure and flybe are flying to Perpignan. This replaces Salzburg, which in turn replaced Bergamo.

Rumours are Helvetic to Zurich, Alitalia to Milan, Malev to Budapest and a new Dutch carrier to Rotterdam.

The market is there for additional flights to Zurich and Milan, Budapest would probably work with next year's enlargement of the EU. Rotterdam is a niche route, but has suffered in the past from the financial viability of carriers who have operated there and to Eindhoven and Maastricht.

There are always rumours about new Asian operators, but as ever time will tell, in the past some have commenced with about one weeks notice.

Finally paper airline Flyblu have proposals to operate from BHX to
three destinations in Florida with a 767.

It looks like Skyways will be introducing a Birmingham to Stockholm service next year.

If any one can translate Swedish at www.skyways.se, please tell me what it says !

Essentially Skyways plans to open a direct route between Arlanda (Stockholm) and Birmingham in the new year using the ERJ145 jet. At launch there will be a twice daily service (return) and one return route on Sundays.

Skyways CEO talks about the great potential and believes the route will compliment its existing Arlanda to Manchester and Arlanda to Dublin routes.

No specific date of start and it was not loaded in their timetable computer when I checked.

(Literal translation was not necessary. Just wish there was more competition to / from northern Finland. OK, thereis Duo now but I wonder if that will last due to light loads.)
