Apparently Michael O'Leary wants the low cost airlines to form an association to offer counter arguments to the full-service airlines' Assocation of European Airlines. Do you think easyJet (who he has termed another "high fare" airline) will join the party?

According to the FT, easyJet won't be going. "We will only argue" is the quote!

MOL wanting to talk to other airlines instead of just slagging them off. The EU must have him really worried!

The Financial times went on to say that 'Having spent years losing friends and alienating people, Michael O'Leary performed a dramatic mid-air U-turn yesterday'.

and because it looks like nobody else is attending 'At least it will be a low-cost meeting. O'Leary could just rent a telephone box'.

Perhaps he still has that tank! - he could use that instead.

Presumably there is going to be a stage 2 to this, along the lines of "Ryanair, the only member of the Official Low Cost Airlines Association ...."

MOL should be more concerned that for the 4th month running, his load factor is in decline! This is one of the key investor success signals.

Troubles in Belgium, France and Sweden, should the 'troubles' intensify, then he really will need some help from this association!

I'm tempted to ask "how much is he charging them", but stopped just in time. Phew.

Seriously, though, with all the pressure from the neo-Luddites (aka greens), the EU and the Treasury, I think there is some merit to this. Low cost carriers have the potential to make a great contribution to the economy and instead, the aim seems to be to tax the industry to death.
