In the past, there has been some confusion regrading the 'status' of the Air Cadet-operated Vigilant T Mk 1. I have recently recieved the following statement from the CAA which now clarifies matters:

"As far as JAR-FCL licence requirements are concerned, the Vigilant T Mk 1 is a military aircraft which does not have a direct civil equivalent - the closest civil equivalent being the Grob 109B which meets the JAR-FCL definition of a Touring Motor Glider. Until such time as a Vigilant T Mk 1 is presented for civil certification, it is unknown what certification (if any) would be given to the aircraft. Therefore, experience in the Vigilant
T Mk 1 will continue to be credited in the same manner is its closest civil equivalent (Grob 109). As such, experience in the Vigilant T Mk 1 will be credited, where appropriate, as flight time in a TMG."

Thanks BEagle (and on behalf of a couple of other VR(T)'s to whom I will pass that on!)
