A news report out Thursday and apparently announced by the manufacturer stated that India's state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has clinched a deal to sell ten advanced light helicopters (ALHs) to the US Customs through its Israeli marketing partner.
Negotiations are said to be at an advanced stage to finalise the deal for supplying the civil variant of the helicopter called Dhruv - so clinched is clearly an advanced statement!
But does anyone have any idea why the US Customs would want to buy the Dhruv? A type certainly not yet certified in the US ... and potentially never even seen in the US yet.
It certainly seems that far from being 'clinched' the ink is still in the pen.
Anyone heard anything from any other sources?
