"The conversion from an old cropduster and general aviation runway into an airport was the first step to guarantee charter flights from San José and Liberia, in Costa Rica, towards Granada, Nicaragua's colonial city.

Nature Air hopes to transport 600 passengers per month to Granada while a US consortium, represented here by Roberto Arias Ramos, requested permission from the community to begin construcion of a condominium in front of Pier Pablo Antonio Cuadra.
The mayor of Granada, Luis Chamorro Mora, said that aboard the inaugral flight, next Monday on the 1st of December, will be the Costa Rican president Abel Pacheco, who will be received by President Enrique Bolaños.
Mauricio Céspedes, representative of Nature Air, believes that "everything will be a success" the new air route between Liberia and Granada.
He indicated that initally they will use a turbo-prop airplane, which is capable of taking-off and landing in a distance of 250 meters, with room for 15 massengers and four crew members, including a flight attendant. During the flight tourists will be able to appreciate the eco-touristic surroundings of the city of Granada, "las Isletas," the Mombacho volcano, and Zapatera Island.
Nature Air is owned by US citizen Alex Khajavi, who also invested in the construction of the Customs and Immigration offices at the Granada airstrip. "None of the tourists will need to go to Managua, everything will be resolved here," said Céspedes.
FARES AND DESTINATIONS
Tourists from Granada will also be able to travel to Costa Rica on Nature Air, whose fares are: San José-Granada, 240 dollars round trip; Liberia-Granada, 130 dollars round trip. In addition, they will sell tour packages. A complete package, including air transport, hotel, tour and partial meals will cost $320 dollars for Nicaraguans who wish to travel to Costa Rica from Granada.
Nature Air has 64 flights daily, whose main destinations are: San José, Bocas del Toro (Panama), Limón, Barra del Colorado, El Tortuguero, Liberia, Quepos, Granada (Nicaragua) and Pavas.
