Most of the US 737 courses are a 25 -26 sim hr syllabus, plus theyll charge an arm and a leg for extra work past the syllabus at around $450usd/hr.
But on the other hand ETA in Brisbane are still using the Ansett Sim in Melbourne, not sure if the NZ CAA have given them the nod yet, I beleive unless its been sold from under them, their syllabus is 36 hrs in the sim, which is much more comprehensive I think. It costs alittle more but its closer and probably in the end the same cost.

My opinion

Very sad.

I believe you will be paying for all your check and training before long.
The industry is stuffed.

Don't realy agree with the paying for a job thing.

But a lot of the Kiwi's have gone to Flight Safety Boeing, Seattle to do theirs for Freedom.

Best price option, esp with the $US so low.

Blue Line: Try ringing Jenny Sheridan, Customer Services at the AN Sim Centre, 50 Garden Drive, Tullamarine, 9373-8005. She'll give you costs and advise on accommodation, should you need it.

Hope this helps,

Kind regards,

Hi All

Continential airlines have a package for 737 Endorsements. The cost is $11,995.USD for the 737-300 EFIS type rating and $5,995.USD for the 737NG differences. The total package is $17,990 USD. They have an FAA and VA approved course. It lasts 18 days for the 737-300 type rating and an additional 6 days for the differences course for a total of 24 calendar days. An ATP can be attained on the check ride if the written and time requirements are met. They will provide transportation from any Continental city. The only additional charge you have is food and hotel. A new class begins every month. Foreign students require U.S. Department of Justice approval to begin training. A foreign student must be a current and qualified PIC, SIC, or FE in an aircraft 5700kgs or greater for DOJ approval. If you have any further questions feel free to contact

Doh! :ooh:

A foreign student must be a current and qualified PIC, SIC, or FE in an aircraft 5700kgs or greater for DOJ approval

Isn't that a Catch-22 problem for someone looking for their first >5700kg type rating.

Blue line - you must be :{ . A great opportunity and no one wants to give you a go, even with your secret stash of bullion.

Let us know where and who if they do.

Blue Line, sorry mate, the US DOJ wont let you in if you don't have a type rating on a/c over 5700kgs. Doesn't matter if it is a sim only either. PM me for more info mate.

Gentlemen,

If you have a rating on acft over 5700kgs DoJ will process application in roughly 48 hrs. If you don't have the above the application takes six weeks to process.

Careful regarding the Continental option.
When I last called NZCAA, Flight safety (i.e boeing) were the only ones approved in the States. Qantas and the ex Ansett sim in Auz and Air NZ here, are the list of sims/courses/ratings they will recognise. .... unless you turn up with 500hrs on type from elsewhere.
