Why is it that Charter Airlines who also operate scheduled flights manage so much better punctuality on the scheduled flights?

Take Monarch for example.

LGW Charter - 28 mins average delay / 12.4% over an hour late
LGW Scheduled - 10 mins average delay / 3.7% over an hour late

LTN Charter - 24 mins average delay / 10.9% over an hour late
LTN Scheduled - 12 mins average delay / 4.2% over an hour late

Does the airline put more emphasis on getting the scheduled flights off on time, often at the expense of the charter programme? Just curious as it seems a huge difference.

Most sch on single isle aircraft approx 200 pax, therefore less pax arriving late at gate etc .One reason BAA only show boarding on screens in shop area( to keep punters in the shops, check out profits ) at about -30 with long walks to satelite or down fingers to piers means the lack of pax waiting to board. And thus 300 + pax means late off gate. Crews and ground staff aim to get away on time as it only delays their return home.:(

Timetabling of schedules is more relaxed than charters, in particular no overnight flights to pick up delays from incoming daytime operations and to cascade delays into the next day. All reflected in the price.

So are there specific "Scheduled Aircraft" which only operate the scheduled flights? I was of the impression that aircraft did a mix of charter and scheduled flights.

The aircraft and crews do mix between scheduled and charter operations however the newer Airbus A320's and A321's tend to operate the vast majority of Monarch scheduled services with the 757 used on a few occasions where demand requires.
