I'm currently learning to Fly in Australia and part of the criteria to reach PPL level is to take an GFPT test or General Flying Progress Test ( like a restricted PPL without having done NAVs).

How long does it typically take to pass GFPT?

If you are referring to the flight test alone, I think mine was an hour or so flight, just general handling in the training area (stalls, turns etc) and returning to the airfield for a few circuits and that was it. (its going back a while now, maybe things have changed, but that was all for me.)

You need 20 hours total time, including at least 5 hours command (that means solo) and 2 hours instrument flight.
You also need to have passed the Basic Aeronautical Knowledge exam at your flying school; which typically requires 15 to 20 hours of study and is a two hour exam.
Good luck!
