I have a clear weekend 12-13-14 December.
Prefer Saturday, could do Friday night or Sunday afternoon.

Or we could start on Friday and go right through.... :E :ok:

Saturday 6th is sort of possible, but I am out on Friday and Sunday so not desirable.

Good luck Iain! You've been working so hard you won't need it, though, from what I can tell.

I'm probably free then.

BRL

13th looks good for me too.

Good luck Ian, not that you need it like....... ;) :ok:

If its a Friday night in City / West End I could make it, but not on a weekend (family!)

Off the top of my head, I think that weekend is good for me. Will have to double check when I get back to the UK in December, but put me down as a "probably"!

Unless someone posts to the contrary, I will be turning up at the Founders Arms at about 13:30 on the 13th.

I think the Hydrofoil thingy has stopped for the winter, but if it is running I propose we try to make the trip that we failed dismally to pull off last time.

TallGuy.

Yep - I'm still an "almost definitely" for the 13th.

13th still on. I watched the hydrofoil thingy going under Blackfriars bridge a few days ago. Don't know if it was in service though.

Thanks very much for all the good wishes, they meant a lot.

Just got to go through the torture of two weeks waiting for the results now.

See you there at the founders 13:30 13th. :p

Sounds good, I'll be there.

You lot might even get on the right boat this time ;)

Where is this place? I'll be in London the evening of the 12th for the Dawn to Dusk presentations (Have we won again???). I was going to drive back early on Saturday, but I might be able to stick around for a few hours.

BRL
8th Dec 2003, 16:49
Hi Whirly. It is located just outside the Tate modern. The Tate is oppposite Blackfriars train station. From there you head over the bridge and it is on the river walk down to your left. It is just by the millenium bridge that links the south bank to St Pauls. I am sure someone can put a map up here, belive it or not, I can't remember how its done..!!

Good luck with the dawn to dusk :)

Whirly,

Hope you make it... but I can't recommend driving home afterwards. They tend to be fairly alcoholic bashes....

I'm still coming, but I have to leave late afternoon to go to Oxford, I think. Still have plenty of time to toast Iain's freedom, though. :)

12th Dec 2003, 15:30
I'll definitely drop in, but somewhat briefly before starting the long drive back to North Wales.

See you all tomorrow then :)

13th Dec 2003, 01:35
Yep!

I'll be there 14 - 15:00.

BRL
13th Dec 2003, 01:47
Yep, managed to pull a favour from the boss and I should be there around half two, three-ish.

Keef
13th Dec 2003, 17:35
I might be there by 1pm, depending on when I get out of here and what the rain's doing.

Understand tKF is otherwise occupied.

I will be bringing a carrier bag of aviation nostalgia for Whirly, who had better be there :ok:

TheKentishFledgling
13th Dec 2003, 17:41
Despite the slight scare in the week that I may make it, I can now confirm I won't be there :(

Have a great time everyone, see you at the next one....I hope!

Well! A wonderful time was had by a select and merry gathering; beer cheques were gratefully received from the absent BRL, tKF, and Whirlybird. (You can send your tenners to Penguina in the morning.)

I had to leave just as things were getting interesting (working tomorrow) but I think there was a serious risk of curry being eaten.

If I can work out how to get the photos out of my telephone, I'll post them and embarrass several folks. (I wonder if I can make phonecalls on my camera?)

We decided to have a Private Flying fly-in somewhere interesting in the new year - details and location to be decided.

BRL
14th Dec 2003, 06:30
Yep, It seemed the world and his dog didn't want me to go to this.
I was rostered 0647 to 1624. I managed to get out of that and get on a safety briefing day instead. Boss sorted that out and said we would be done by one. Got there at 1115 and did not start until 1210. Boss was busy and had to keep nipping out of the office, each time putting us back. Got out of there really late and it took an age to drive home to get changed. Decided at 1700 it was to late to go so bottled out. Combination of pouring down rain and heavy traffic in town made the decision easier.
Thats my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it...!!!!

Let's see some pictures and a more detailed report from you lot. Did you go on the boat at all..?

Keef
14th Dec 2003, 08:50
Classified information, I'm afraid ;-)

Pictures would embarrass Iainpoll and Penguina so must remain offline.

I think FFF may have some that are printable.

FlyingForFun

Sorry - no pictures, as I didn't even have a camera.

I can report, though, that no curry was consumed. Our friendly barman pointed us towards a curry house, so we set off in the correct direction. Despite frequent FREDA checks, we were unable to locate said curry house, so we went into another pub instead.

After sampling the goods at this pub, we again asked for directions to the curry house, and were pointed in the same direction we'd been going before. Seemed like the heading was correct, but we'd messed up with the stop-watch. So we set off again with renewed confidence, but still no sign of curry. By now, stomachs were starting to rumble, so we settled on a pleasant-looking Italian restaurant instead. A couple of bottles wine and two courses of food later, we emerged with very full stomachs and very empty wallets, and wondered if the waiter would ever recover from the ordeal.....

Is that it?. Who turned up? Any piccys etc..............

15th Dec 2003, 20:36
I was there:ok:

Another civilised event - at least until I left at about 19:30 and the curry expedition set off.

I had the camera out by the front door so that I wouldn't forget it. Then walked straight past it :O So no photos from me this time.

BRL - the complete attendance (for Private Flying records) in order of arrival was:

1. Keef (with strategically displayed 1:500 000 chart on the table for PPRuNe identification)
2. FFF
3. TG152
4. Penguina
5. IainPoll
6. Paulo

Apologies received from Whirly and BRL.

...to Iain!

However, landing tonsillitis within 3 hours of departure very suspicious and if it ever happens again, will set Penguinetta on the lot of you.

You have been warned. ;)

Thanks everyone.

Funny thing is, I've had to get my Trevor Thoms out to read, as I've forgotten all the useful stuff.

G-SXTY - In Altissimus, I'm well up for an EGSG drink, when do you fancy it?

Ah, Keef, shame on you for not knowing that, being a man of the cloth an' all.

The answer, of course, is that God has an IR. An FAA IR, naturally, because as we all know, God is American. ;)

Hope you get some time to put your feet up over the Christmas period. :O
