15 of the 18 737-200 aircraft operated by the airline have been grounded and are up for sale, I wonder if some will be gifted to Ariana Afghan Airlines.

Well, it was kind of strange to be operating the MD90 & the 737 at the same time.

Most of those aircraft were grounded years ago. I doubt that Ariana would want to take them, getting them back in the air would be extremely expensive!!!!!

Mike the reasoning behind the continued operation of the 737 was due to the PCN of one airport. This airport wasnt and isnt able to take the weight of the MD90. It can only just handle the 737.

While the last two SV B737's may be grounded shortly due to the cost of required heavy mx, i wouldnt be surprised to see leased aircraft operating instead of them.

About a dozen of the 737's were lying at Ghassim last time I passed through (March)..

Combined with the 15 TriStars and another 3 737's at Taif - well who needs Arizona for storage!
