Hello.

I am organizing my digital pictures and I'm having trouble with the file names. I use Infran view to rename the filenames and of course I'll have to include numer in the file name.
F.ex. Reykjavik1, Reykjavik2 ect...

The problem for mister Boblem here is that windows organises the pics like this in the folder:
Reykjavik1
Reykjavik10
Reykjavik100
Reykjavik101
Reykjavik11
Reykjavik12
..............
Reykjavik19
Reykjavik2
Reykjavik20
Reykjavik21
and so forth

How the HE** can I teach this windows how to count ?

It is no way to show these pics to anyone.. it's a mess.

PLEASE if you have the solution to this little problem. post it please.

Can you not name them e.g. "Reykjavik_0001"? That will make the problem go away.

The techie bit:
It's sorting them in alphabetical order. "nothing" comes before "0" in the alphabet.

Proxus,

Try showing them by date.

That should get your pictures in the alignment you want.

Take Care,

Richard

Glad that helped. I've done some research and found that (apparently) Windows XP supports "natural order" sorting and uses it by default (which is of course a royal PITA if you don't want it). Mac users have the option of installing a system extension such as http://www.naturalordersort.org/; I haven't yet found an equivalent for older versions of Windows. Us Linux users always use filenames like "file_20031104_001.jpg" anyway...
