Now, girls, we'll start this thread again, but this time can we stick to the topic - and fact - and avoid a slanging match?

If not, the thread will be removed.

Onthegear posted the following:

Apparently a Pilot at Parafield is conducting charters in an Aerostar without holding an AOC.

CASA have ramped him a number of times but he words his pax up on it being a cost share flight.

He has a website which to me clearly shows he does charters.

Interesting. :*

A few years ago when i was training at YPPF there was a guy that had a lance and a share in a C210 that did have a AOC in the name of southern air charter. I searched the AOC list on the casa site yesterday and couldn't see one there anymore, but does that mean that it does not exist or that that the list on the casa website is not a full list and may be the Aoc is being amended as we speak, or the amendents for the deathstar, c310 have been done and that casa have not posted them on there website yet as we all know how efficient casa is with processing licences and medicals so i would experct that their as quick or as slow with AOC amendments. Or conversley on the other hand these guys are operating illegaly, but if casa thought this shorly they would just suspend the guys licence and cancel the Cof R on the aircraft. or have these guys just forgott to put their AOC details on thier website??, it could be an honest mistake on the part of the web designer or they are operating with a disregard for the rules. but lets find some facts first before we hang these guys out to dry.

SOUTHERN AIR CHARTER
Registered state/no. SA BN04140606

Type: Business Names Registration
Date: Unknown
Next Review Date: Unknown
Status: Registered
Principal Place of Business: not available
Jurisdiction: Office of Consumer & Business Affairs, South Australia

The name, Southern Air Charter is a Registered Business Name.

The AOC, if it exists, would more than likely be in the holding company name, not the business name.

Checked out the website, bloody cheeky if he doesn't have an AOC!!!

Maybe i'm naieve, but surely someone at CASA can check the website then check if he has an AOC. VOILA, SHUT HIM DOWN AND PROSECUTE HIM.

Or is that just to simple?

No need for somebody at CASA to check for an AOC ...you can do it online here;

http://www.casa.gov.au/casadata/aoc/findaoc.htm

... book'em Danno! :E

You'll also notice no AOC for Horizon Airlines and Inland Pacific Airlines to name 2. That doesn't mean they don't have one. The AOC isn't issued to the business name but the legal entity. As Torres has pointed out Southern Air Charter is a business name only.

I dont think CASA are really that stupid, esp if they have ramped the guy.

If a guy such as this dude wants to start a company he can just by trading as him self EG, FRED NERK T/AS Southern Air Charter, when one does that CASA for some reason cannot display the AOC on the website.

However if one were to ask to see the AOC he must show it. Well it must be displayed 2 the public anyway in his office, then again he could have his office at home with it hanging on the wall, who really knows and having said all that he might be a crook but i dont really think so..

CIVIL AVIATION REGULATIONS 1988
- REG 210
Restriction of advertising of commercial operations

(1)
A person must not give a public notice, by newspaper advertisement, broadcast statement or any other means of public announcement, to the effect that a person is willing to undertake by use of an Australian aircraft any commercial operations if the last-mentioned person has not obtained an Air Operator's Certificate authorising the conduct of those operations.

So if as you say Torres, it is being operated under a holding company, isn't there a requirement for the AOC holding company to be noted in any advertisements. ie, Dodgy Brothers Incorporated T/as whoever air charter.

G'Day IJ! :ok:

An AOC is normally issued to ABC Pty Ltd, trading as XYZ Air Charter. As ABC Pty Ltd is the legal entity, that is the name one would expect to find in the CASA AOC listing.

For example, do a CASA search on the name "QantasLink" - no AOC in that name! But you can search and find the AOC's issued to "members" of the QantasLink group, SUNSTATE AIRLINES (QLD) PTY LTD trading as SUNSTATE AIRLINES for example - but still no "QantasLink"!

Knowing CASA's policeman in South Australia, I think it extremely unlikely the operator mentioned above would be openly advertising and operating without an AOC. :O

The CASA Policeman you mentioned has been involved in an investigation on SAC in the last week.

SAC does have an AOC application in the CASA system at the moment but it is yet to be approved.

CASA have investigated the said Chief Pilot a number of times after flights but the pax he has on board are worded up to say its a cost share flight.

Apparently CASA have instructed him to take the website off the net.

Stayed tuned for more......... :ooh:

Nice website too.
The operator has more front than Myers if he is doing this without an AOC.

The person you mentioned is the one in question. He did have an AOC a couple of years ago but handed it back when a partner left the company.

Too expensive to keep up the paperwork I guess.:{

Yes, and yep I can see the sites still there.

Oh well, time will tell.

Cats out of the bag now!!:E

To all readers of this forum.

I am posting in my own name to dispel rumors on these boards.
I AM NOT SPIKE 007
I have not previously posted on this topic under any name.
I have not disclosed another person’s identity on any pprune forum
I would suggest that the individual posting these and other personal attacks on my character has some serious personal problems.

The allegations of illegal operations at Murray Bridge are equally baseless. I urge readers of this forum to consider the reasons why an individual would want to slander a flying school. It is usually the result of jealousy/ being sacked by the company, or it could be due to gross non-compliance/ exploitation on behalf of the operator.

I contend that the former is the case in this instance.

If it were indeed the latter, I would suggest that CASA would be involved in an investigation of the matters concerned. For those who are interested in the facts CASA has recently conducted an inspection of the Flying School premises and was satisfied with the compliance of our organisation. CASA have always been greeted with openness an honesty at Murray Bridge and are welcome to investigate any claims of noncompliance at a time of their convenience.

I suggest that the individual attempting to defame my character on these forums stop spreading lies and hypocrisy and allow others to return to the original topic, the very serious allegation of illegal charters being conducted without an AOC.

PS: Woomera, despite the out of hand nature of this thread I request that you leave it open for sufficient time to allow others to view the facts with regards to this issue.

Hello all.
This thread is proving to be very entertaining. I'd like to just add to the "facts" so everyone can get a good picture of what is going on.
Why is it that Spikey Baby deleted a post he made on this thread? (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=101323) I reproduce his deleted post below.

Why Murray Bridge
Well perhaps because they have Aircraft and qiute a few.
1x Jabriu
1x C150 aerobat
2x pa28-140 cruiser
1x pa28 -160 warrior
3x C-172
1x C-172 Rg
1x Pa28R Arrow
2x C-210
1x PA 34 seneca2
1x PA23-260 Aztruck

Not sure on current prices but give them a call on 85311744 and someone should be able to help u out. Also think that most A/C would night Vfr approved.

Also depending on which area of adelaide u are in YMBD is only 35 minutes drive up the freeway.

That certainly sounds like an advertisement for YMBD to me. But it would be a good idea to disassociate yourself from them before you start naming names in another post.
Well, like I said - Just some more facts for you all. :ok:

So Joseph, it wasn't you? For that, we are truly sorry... It isn't fair for you to be treated in such a fashion, as aviation in South Austrlalia is such a struggling entity. From all of us here, we ARE indeed sorry and hope that you can hold it in your heart of hearts to forgive us for falsely accusing you... Terrible indeed... We wish you all the best in your endeavours at Murray Bridge and as Confucious says :" May all of your dreams come true, and may all of your students be multi - engine IFR"... God Bless...
