I'm almost done with my South African CPL IR(ME) but I have couple of very specific questions regarding what I need to do to obtain a JAR Licence:

1. Do I need to do an approved course of flight training prior to taking the JAR CPL skills test?

2. Is it possible to complete a MCC course without first having obtained a JAR IR? (The reason I ask - supposing you do your IR on a Multi Crew aeroplane)

Many thanks

Provided you meet the other requirements (ie medical, theory exams completed) the answer to your first question is no, the only requirement is you have to do sufficient flight training as determined by your (JAR) training provider.
You can do the CPL test outside of the UK - I know FTC used to to them about 12 months ago but you need to get some up-to-date info from them.
Your second question I'm not sure about but I can find out for you.
You will find some useful info on www.bristol.gs
good luck
