Same company, slightly different topic, are they any nearer to getting the long-predicted 737-300s?

Some recent European subcharter work for BMI did not go down at all well with the BMI regulars, as discussed on FlyerTalk here:

if they are going to sub for major carriers rather than their traditional friends at Ryanair, is it not time to have something a bit better in the fleet ?

Palmair, who lease 2 737-200's from EAAC, mention in their summer 2004 brochure that they'll have two larger aircraft for the summer schedules. Down here on the south coast we're presuming that these will be EAAC 737-300's. Bath Travel owns Palmair and is a shareholder in EAAC.

Lots of questions. Not many firm answers yet as the sale of EAAC is still not yet finalised. BUT:-

The sale of EAAC to new investors is expected to be complete in the very near future. At that point Bath Travel (or rather the Bath family) will be part owners of EAAC - as of yet they are not.

737-300s are expected to be announced as soon as the company is sold. It is likely that the first 2 of these will be BOH based. One may operate for Palmair over the winter with a second possibly doing oil contract work to Uralsk. Further aircraft may be added in the spring, with possible work from Newcastle, Edinburgh and Belfast over the summer.

3 more 747s are being added to the fleet. 2 from Virgin and one more ex-BA.

The 747 is currently operating to Basra from Brize Norton and Teeside for the MOD. This route slips in Akrotiri. Teeside has the same length runway as BOH - enough for a full 747 and about 6 hours of fuel.

An Australia rotation (once weekly) is about to start for Austravel, to Sydney via Colombo.

Hajj work is not yet confirmed but KUL seems likely.

If BMI wish to charter EAAC, then EAAC will work for BMI. If BMI passengers are not happy with this, that is between them and BMI.
