Air Universal Ltd, based in Amman is looking for L1011 crews for the upcoming Hajj. They have a contract with Saudia, and i hear they pay quite well.

Is this airline operating alongside STAR Air Limited which also operates the Tristars on a charter/wet-lease basis out of Amman?

Air Universal Ltd, is independent from Star Air Ltd. They own two tristars and use them on the Sudan air network.

Hey Weblue, a bit of a step back in technology, is it really worth the size and move abroad. Aviation is a small world/fraternity you know, best of luck.

Cheers GD:cool:

Careful. A couple of friends (captains) were stiffed their last month salary earlier this year.

According to sources they are supposed to be getting B747's for their operations operating along side their L1011's

If the operation is supposed to reputable then surely they would pay the Crews who fly them, or have I missed something here!!!!

What source is this? are you talking about Air Universal. If so, i think they are a reputable bunch in Jordan. They have been flying the Hajj for two years now without hiccups. I believe they are having trouble finding L1011 crews directly, hence they approached BETTS to help them out.

Do u have the contract details and Salary information? I hear they pay handsomely. They will base in Jeddah, as they have a contract with Saudia.

Dont have any other details - only what 2 friends of mine were chatting about in Amman.

They don't know what is going to happen after the hajj flights though. Will they kiss the crews goodbye or will they be kept on for more work!!

was in AMM last week. there are 5 1011`s sitting on the ramp, with different paint shemes. probably the biggest nest of 1011`s in the world. They must have something in mind...:suspect:

Star is looking hard for crew, went to Betts, but balked when they were told they could get crew but they would need to pay to get them current They hired 2 "current" pilots but told these pilots to stand by and they would be ferrying an airplane over that is in the desert in USA. The guys checked and the airplane has not begun to be re activated yet, so they are still waiting, without being paid. Also there is something strange about another Star l 1011 sitting in Port O Spain.
Wish I knew more to pass on to my friend.

Not sure where you got this rumour from.....
They will base in Jeddah, as they have a contract with Saudia. But it isnt true.

Saudia are leasing 17 aircraft for the Hajj, none of them will be L1011's.

Thanks for the correction, i guess the Saudia contract with Air Universal is only for the B747s.

Out of the 17 aircrafts, 8 are coming from Air Atlanta, 2 from Air Universal. Any news on the other 7?

Air Universal B747's ? Not that I know of. Only B747's are from Atlanta with the 3 767's, the rest are Turkish A300's.
