AV8R- Microlight Pilot

But worse still, and a bit of a rare sight, those yellow stick on things in the rear window of your car such as "baby on board".

I've seen "Instructor on Board", and "Student Pilot on Board"

Really, I just cringe:yuk:

When I was doing some non-aviation work at the MVR office in Darwin(at $50 each - WORLD CAPITAL OF WANKY NUMBER PLATES!!) I struck up a conversation with one of the office guys who told me that there is a commitee that meets every week to discuss the 'suitability' of the personal plate applications. My fave - PHARQU - he said was absolutely borderline! - ie could be seen to be considered possibly obscene when interpreted in a certain way! :E

A little mx5 (lady driver) = 12NV (one to envy)

Big old Holden V8 with a skin head in it = INVNO1 (I envy no 1)

I drive an FC Holden and I drive a 767. The number plate is AFC-767.

I'm certainly not alone in the QF car park of being proud of what I do. Lots of 767s, 747s, 744s, 737s, etc. Haven't see a '330' yet though! :p

Horses for courses. That said, I'd never stick a number plate on a car of an aircraft that I hadn't driven!

A number plate seen in the Navair carpark @ BK in 1990 - "SEX 747"

The owner was at the time, a QF FE who was converting to SO.

The original number plate was a special NSW issue for the 1988 Australian Bicentennial and actually looked quite smart. Needless to say someone with even less taste than the rightful owner stole it and the owner then had to replace it with a standard black on yellow NSW plate (still SEX-747) - gee, we really felt sorry for him!

The most appropriate avdriver's numberplate I've ever layed eyes on was on a little black Honda a bit north of here....

She knows who she is.... and what the plate is... ;)

On a previous car in a previous life (before aviation), I had a plate that resembled my nickname, but that doesn't get printed here.... :E

Another Wazzie fella I know has the rego of his own personal a/c as his 4x4 rego, given to him as a present as far as I am aware.

Honestly, some of you need to take a bex and a lie down. What is the big deal if someone wants to be a little different to you? Are you feeling inadequate and feel you have to scorn something you don't personally like, let alone understand?

Some tolerance might be in order guys and girls, just because someone wants to be different to you doesn't make them any bigger ******** than you. It is a world made-up of over 4 billion individuals, either get with it or get out of it, but don't sit there and snipe, for you give every aussie and kiwi here in D+G who feels differently to you a bad name the more and more you go on and on on these (viewable by anyone with interent access across the whole world) BB's.

Here endeth the lesson.

Oh, and Bushie that rego is "P Pylut", go have a gander tomorrow old son. Did you get your a/c hoses? :)

Ops.

Had to laugh. Saw "flyboy" a few years ago in Melb. Just had to whip out the camera at the lights. Photo ended up in the newsletter too!

Another instance was in the process of signing out a cross hire (172) to some bloke with the aviator sunnies hanging out of the pocket when his phone rang the good old top gun theme.

How can you tell the pilot at a party? Don't worry, he'll tell you.

I saw " GJUNKY" on a very well known aerobatic pilot's BMW. I like that one. Not 747PLT though.

Don't be envious Dawnie, my toys cost a ****e load to keep! (prolly more than I admit or want to know!) Yes the plates were a pressie from my kids (after I prompted them!)

Funny thing is that people who have no interest in aviation look at my plates and say (insert best dumb voice) what does that mean! Yep, coppers included!

Hehehe, life is fun!

A guy I know wanted 6UL DV8 but they wouldn't give it to him.

I heard another guy got W0G 007. He had to threaten legal action to get them - his arguement. "I'm a w0g and if I want to call myself one I can"

Appropriate plate for a pilot might be W*NKER...

Side note - teach the young ones the phonetic alphabet by reading plates :D

'Ole W0G 007.... Such a pity back in the very very late eighties (yep, that year we don't mention here... ;) ), in that orange Cortina he was running a 351W with a basic under-carbie NOS nitrous spraybar kit. Not a bad bit of gear for it's day, but no match (and proven at Brickies at Auburn), for the will and might of a Boss 351 (a Windsor bottom end with Dot4 Clevo heads for those of you who might have any idea), with the first of the NOS Pro-Shot fogger kits that resided under the bonnet of my '71 Capri, complete with tricked C4 and nine-inch.....

Just as well he kept driving that night..... there was a pink slip riding on it. Ah, life before aviation. :}

Ugly, your mate who I think he is, or has the plate gone back to the RTA these days? (you do say you are from Sydney...)

Bloody Plates! My son very thoughtfully gave me personalised plates (yes, with my aircraft Rego) for xmas about 4 years ago. Cost him a couple of hundred, but it costs me that every year to keep them, and I know if I hand them in he'll be offended.

Very very sad that people cannot come up with any better ways of wasting money then getting aviation related personalised number plates. Do they just not realise what a toss off they are making of themselves? I just don't understand. When I see these number plates I laugh... not at the wittiness or the cleverness of rampant stupidity, but I laugh at the poor owners who just don't realise we are laughing AT them not WITH them. The money the RTA gets from these ridiculous plates should go towards establishing psychological testing of all pilots, GA or otherwise so that we may never be subjected to such torture in the future. Cmon people there are better things in life.

Yep, same here.

I've got B-737 in my rego, but that's pure coincidence, cause the rego was issued when the car was new, when I was 3 yrs of age.

And no, I didn't buy the car just cause of that. My old one got written off and the one I bought was the only one of its type on the market when I got the $$$ from the insurance company to buy a replacement.
