Whens Ramadan?

I was just after if anyone knows offhand when the next Ramadan starts and stops?

Looks like we might have a 2-week long charter comin up very soon around the Sandpit and UAE and need to organise the trip taking into acount the timings when the locals blood-sugar levels are low. They do eat in the morning just before sunrise dont they?

I believe it begins the 26th of October this year. As far as I understand eating in public before sunrise and after sunset.

The first day of the month of Ramadan equates to 26 Oct. The last day is 24 Nov. Then follows a week of 'Eid' or holiday where you may expect many Muslims to have time off.

During Ramadan you should refrain from eating, drinking or smoking in public during daylight and it would be wise to make youself more aware of any more local cultural or religious issues depending on the destination.

In theory, the best time for a visit is probably mid-morning. First thing might be a bit too early from people stopping up eating all night (instead of sleeping) and by the afternoon it can all start to catch up...

During Ramadan everything is frozen during day, because it´s fasting - month. Unfortunally many muslems pick up weight during that time. Why? - lots of them eat sweet stuff all night. The result is a rapid decrees of blood sugar in the morning. Expect the expats working normal, the locals working with half speed.

I hope, that you are aware of the local culture and religious issues now :}

Pubs still open in Dubai after Ifta just no loud music and only non-muslims allowed to frequent the premises.....you guys are really doing it hard up there!!??? Preparing myself to starve again down here in the compulsory health camp!

Thanks for those dates guys. Ok 26 Oct - 24 Nov inclusive. Yeh I know the thing about eatin and drinkin in public. What we are tryin to organise is max eficientcey (i.o.w. minimum screw-ups) by scheduling ops during the times when the locals are widest awake. That seems to point to between sunrise and 10-11 am.

I was told that true believers of the (Islamic) faith allow NOTHING to go IN or OUT of the body from sunrise to sunset.
That means daytime bonking is out for you, Slasher!

Additionally, in its purest form, a Muslim should not even drink (water) during daylight hours - however, I also understand that the Quoran exempts travellers from these prohibitions, and in the interests of Safety pilots of the Islamic faith in Malaysian Airlines during my tenure there, were reminded of the critical side affects of abnormally low sugar levels that are induced by fasting.

Actualey KM its for that lack of bonking why Im doin my bestest to get out of flying it myself. 2 weeks without a shag? Im a mess after 2 days! Cant even slap and tickle one of our stews without a licence! :eek:

Im the one saddled with the organisin and from what Ive found the locals get up earley and guts themselves on goodeys before the sun comes up. Again that points to conducting the more critical side of our intended ops between sunrise and about 10-11am local time before thier brains melt.
