Hi all,
does anybody know if you can self study the ATPL theory subjects and then sit them in the U.S. (or any other country other than OZ). I would like to come home with the theory done. Any insight would sure be appreciated.

They used to let you do them at at a consulate or embassy, but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed anymore. When I talked to them it wasn't a hard and fast rule from the way they were talking, but you'd have to give them a pretty good reason to do it here.

In my research of the above, I have been told by ASL and CASA that at the moment you cannot sit the ATPL exams outside Australia. Since converting the exam format to cyber based exams it would be very convienient for those of us that are overseas to sit the exams but as far as I know ASL (the company tasked with conducting the exams) haven't considered outsourcing overseas.
