Edinburgh Evening News (17/10/03):
MORE FLIGHTS TO CZECH IN ON CITY ROUTE
Czech Airlines is to more than double daily flights from Edinburgh to Prague because of the success of the route.
The news was confirmed today and the new schedule is set to start at the end of March 2004.
Airlines bosses sanctioned the move following a close study of the passenger figures which reveal that an average of 95 seats on their 104-seat Boeing 737 are full every flight.
Currently, the airlines operates five flights a week from Edinburgh.
Iveta Schoppova, director of the Czech Tourist Authority for UK and Ireland, welcomed the news of the 11-flights-a-week schedule from Edinburgh to Prague from next March. She emphasised Czech Airlines' flights were crucial to the development of the Republic as a tourist destination.
A spokesman for Czech Airlines added: "We will be operating 11 flights a week from next March and we believe there is a big potential for direct flights from Edinburgh to Prague.
"The route has been our most successful new operation this year and we had an option of putting a bigger plane on the route or double the flights."
Bosses also have plans for direct flights between Glasgow and Prague in 2005.
