Olive oil or sunflower oil for a week usually sorts it out by softening the wax so it will fall out on its own accord.

...and say that the ear canal is probably an orifice not best served by KY Jelly.

Good luck!

Thoughts on ear syringing have changed recently.

Try and avoid syringing if possible, take the advice of "flyingdutch" but continue treatment for at least 2w.

The reason we try and avoid syringing is that there is a (small) risk of bursting the delicate ear drum when the procedure is performed. The most common reason for this is that the nozzle of the equipment becomes insecure !

Having said all that, the majority of patients go on to require syringing !! Doctors and nurses love to do it, because its one of the few times when we can instantly "cure" a patient.

ps, remember : don't stick anything in your ear smaller than your elbow .
